Enjoy this trip on your free day in Quito. Your guide takes you to the colonial Quito and then you travel towards the northwestern part of the city to visit the Equator Monument and the museums nearby. Enjoy of a wonderful view of Pululahua Crater that has become a productive green valley.
COLONIAL QUITO & EQUATOR MONUMENT- ITINERARY
Today you visit the colonial town, where plazas and streets take you back to colonial times.
This tour is more enjoyable by walking through the streets, to visit the Independence Plaza surrounded by the President’s Palace, the Cathedral and the Municipality. You continue the visit to La Compañia church, and then the visit another special plaza called San Francisco, an ancient Monastery, with its famous church which is part of the traditional legends of Quito.
The walk continues through the narrow stone-streets that leads you to this special neighbourhood, called La Ronda, where all little houses have become small souvenir stores, restaurants, bars and cafés.
Your driver picks you and your guide up to take you towards the northwestern part of Quito and enjoy the view of Pululahua Volcano crater. This great crater is a special place that has become the home of many families who lived from their rich soil.
Before your last stop, you have a wonderful lunch in a local restaurant and after a short break, your guide takes you to the Equator Monument, where you can stand in two hemispheres at once! Here you learn about the discovery of the Equator and it scientists. Then you have the option to visit the Ethnic Museum inside the Monument or the visit to Intiñan Museum, which is a place where you witness different experiments that occur only in the Middle of the World.
After this wonderful day, your guide and driver take you back to your hotel.
