Cotopaxi volcano has an altitude of 5897 m / 19,347ft. This beautiful volcano can be seen from most places in Quito, however, visiting the National Park, gives you the chance be very close to this majestic snow-capped volcano.

Today your guide and driver pick you up from your hotel in Quito. The journey starts with a two-hour drive towards the south of Quito, passing the southern valley of San Rafael and start going through the Avenue of Volcanoes. On the way, you can spot many volcanoes from the car, such us: Pasochoa, Rumiñahui, Ilinizas, Corazón, Cotopaxi.
Upon arrival at the National Park, you visit the Interpretation Centre, to learn about the volcano activities in history and its flora and fauna. After this, your guide takes you for a  short walk through the moorlands that leads to a small lake, called Limpiopungo, here you can spot a variety of Andean birds and a small group of wild horses.
There is an option for a more demanding hike up to the refuge. The walk would take around 1 hour, however, the altitude may cause some sickness for some guests.
After this wonderful visit, lunch is ready for your nearby in a local hacienda. You have some time to rest before returning to Quito.
