The Amazon rainforest is a place of wonder and adventure that many people dream of visiting. However, getting there is not always easy. Here, you can find the different ways to reach the Amazon Rainforest and the best options for your trip.
By car or transportation
Driving to the Amazon can be a great way to see the beautiful Ecuadorian countryside. From Quito, it takes around 4-6 hours on private transportation or a little longer by bus. Along the way, there are plenty of opportunities to stop and explore. It is suggested that you combine your expedition, visiting Cotopaxi, Baños, and Puyo and/or Macas or Antisana, Papallacta and Tena and /or Coca or Lago Agrio. This will allow you to break up the journey and see some of Ecuador’s other attractions.
By plane
If you’re short on time, flying to the Amazon is the best option. You can take a 30-minute flight from Quito to Coca or Lago Agrio. These two cities are the base of operations for the lodges located around Yasuni National Park and Cuyabeno Reserve. Flights to Coca operate from Monday to Saturday and flights to Lago Agrio operate three days a week.
